We all know MP3 players are getting really teeny. So why dont we save ourselves some extra accessories and implant and MP3 player in a fashoinable leather belt? Of course I am no engineer so I can't tell you how it would all fit together exactly. But I figure you can get a reasonable amount of music in a really thin but long MP3 player. Plus you could use wireless headphones so you wouldn't have to worry quite so much about a cord. You could put all necesary plug-in slots/holes in the underside or back of buckle.

What about if it is just the belt buckle, with interchangeable belts for different occasions?

I love this kind of idea. Given the length of the belt, throw in satellite radio and a cellphone :) +

Not to be pessimistic, but why dont you just clip the player TO the belt? But an integrated electronic belt would be veeery cool. Especially with a cellphone and radio in it too.

Sony did at some point do a very nifty pair of MP3 headphones, I don't think they were hideously big capacity (64 meg?) but they were damn funky little things.

I can't find a link for them on the Sony website though.

Add lots of battery holders around the belt, walk around looking like a desperado while listening to hip-hop. - If it is wireless post an ID on a stick-on button. Anyone who is clsoe enough and tunes to that ID can listen in to your program.

belts were the first clothing and they will be the last as we simplify -- give me an everything belt.

I'm surprised at the number of positive comments and the absence of votes. Heres a + from me. Nice

The reason for the dearth of votes is, all ideas from a certain time period got their votes wiped out by the halfbakery october outage.

"belts were the first clothing... "

I guess it was pretty soon afterward that our caveman said "I look pretty silly wearing nothing but this belt - I'd better invent trousers so I have something to hold up"

I don't know why this sort of device didn't come out when MP3 & stuff was in their heyday. After all, as of mid-2007, there are some "i-Pod Belt Buckles":

Could it be that our friend "Space-Pope" was the inspiration for these type of i-pods? Who knows!!!
