As an alternative to haptic actuators using crude elements such as
vibration motors and pistons and things that go bump. An entire pair
of gloves could be constructed from magnetorheological elastomers,
with an actuation matrix embedded, such that tuned damping /
absorption and magnetostriction
could be coded to mean similar
signals to what current haptic are trying to do.
Also, good for sex toys, not just gloves. In fact, forget gloves, sex
toys are probably the HCI interaction method of the future.
||Sensors, similar to guitar pickups could probably read the
thickening and thinning of the magnetorheological
(ferrofluid like) material to read positioning information.
