Make it For Me
People post their ideas, hoping that others will make them work | |
There may be something like this somewhere... actually, I'm sure there should be, but so far, I have been unable to come up with a reasonable resemblance of it.
This will be a website where individuals come up with "ideas" for new products, technologies, fields of research, or combinations of devices.
The
individuals may have a basic understanding of how the idea works, and a desire to see it created and sold,
but will not have the technical, marketing, or manufacturing know-how to patent, build, or market the idea.
Once proposed, the idea is no longer patentable, but companies can develop it for manufacture and marketing. The original poster of the idea will not recieve royalties, but, if successful, they may see the product they desire so much become available.
As with the halfbakery, individuals who have not researched their idea will soon be innundated by links to places where it can be obtained, and individuals who have carefully researched their idea can produce extensive technical details to assist in clarification of the intended invention. Unlike the Halfbakery, the goal will be to see the ideas baked, and become widely known to exist, so the newbies who can't research will go away satisfied, and the old-timers will keep puitting up weird things that will only rarely see the light of day.

How is this different from the HB? What you propose is exactly the HB! Here one can spew forth the spawn of a fecund brain with the hope that it will be adopted and raised by tehcnical, marketing and manufacturing know-hows - with the only goal the betterment of Earth and humankind. |

At least three of the ideas that I originally posted here have subsequently been "made" by others, with no credit given. I regularly point this out to them without a response, but then that's the risk you run when you place your ideas in a public place. Because of this I have a second tier of work that I keep hidden under the mattress.

My "mattress stuffers" are generally too complicated (ie: filled out) for me to attempt to write them down in a post, anyways. The downside is when zeitgeist catches up, I can't say "hey that's *my* idea". |

The major difference between this idea and the halfbakery is that the merit of the idea would be based primarily on the technical feasibility, practicality, or potential benefit to society which the idea imparts, and the goal would be to propose ideas specifically for the purpose of them being turned into reality. |

While the Halfbakery can be used in this way, it is not specifically a website to announce new ideas to potential manufacturers. On the Halfbakery, ideas can be posted for their whimsical nature, or as satirical pieces. While some manufacturers may pass through in search of a new product, quite a bit of the traffic is here specifically for entertainment, not inspiration. |
