As I was walking back to my car tonight in a very cold parking lot I clicked the clicker to unlock the doors. This made me wonder if it would be possible to create another gadget that could display where these clicks were taking place. That way I'd know which way to head when I was looking for a spot.
(It would have to be able to ignore the clicks that came from people locking their doors.) Acoustic locators

You surely wouldnt be able to ignore the clicks that come from kids left in the car who play with the door locks for entertainment. |

I once went to a very large underground car park in Switzerland. Each parking bay had a small box on the ceiling adjacent to the parking space. It had a small detector pointing to the space, which, I think, detected the presence of a vehicle by its magnetic deflection. The box displayed a red or green light to indicate the presence of a vehicle. From the end of the isle it was impossible to see a space, but the little boxes indicated exactly where the space was. The number of free spaces was displayed outside the car park, and red/green arrows on the down ramps indicated which levels had spaces, and how many
