I once went to a very large underground car park in Switzerland. Each parking bay had a small box on the ceiling adjacent to the parking space. It had a small detector pointing to the space, which, I think, detected the presence of a vehicle by its magnetic deflection. The box displayed a red or green light to indicate the presence of a vehicle. From the end of the isle it was impossible to see a space, but the little boxes indicated exactly where the space was. The number of free spaces was displayed outside the car park, and red/green arrows on the down ramps indicated which levels had spaces, and how many… |
