It's hard to believe this doesn't exist somewhere in the world, but I can't find it on the net. The Mars Garden is a simple concept- A walled or hedged in garden where only plants with red or purple foliage are displayed. Walkways could be paved with red stone, and redwood benches placed about. No surrounding green plants should be visible once inside, giving the garden a pleasantly otherworldly feel.

       Sounds like a rose garden.

I only now of plants that are all red part of the season. Roses are mostly green leaves.

There are quite a few plants with red leaves. Japanese maples and smoke trees are a couple I have in my yard. I've seen red ivies and other ground covers. I'm sure there are hundreds more varieties.

It would be nice to have several gardens of diferent colours. I wonder how much artificial selection or GM would be involved in changing a plant's natural reflective hue. Green is prevelant due to its efficiency, but in a garden setting that wouldn't be a problem as you could provide better conditions.

It would still look like pictures you've seen of Mars. [+]

All very nice, until some f*****g Scotsman comes along and covers all the plants in batter and deep fries them.

       With pickled onions.
