garden of unearthly delights

Metrognomes are exactly like conventional garden gnomes except for one distinguishing feature: their heads move backwards and forwards, and they make that distinctive click, clock sound made by their piano timing namesakes. (see link for Metrognome in static position)

The intention of course is to create a nightmare garden full of Metrognomes, their rocking heads all making a slightly desynchronised beat. Once a day, all the beats coincide. It's a moment worth waiting for.

I thought they were going to be gnomes who were heterosexual and lived in the city, and were especially meticulous about their grooming and appearance, typically spending a significant amount of time and money on shopping as part of their lifestyle.

       Get thee to a punnery...

Inconceivable that nobody's stumbled upon this pun before.

Not really a pun, more a metonymy. (the figure of speech in which a term denoting one thing is used to refer to a related thing) It also just happens to be the perfect name, and I'm more than happy with it. Click-clock.
