Modular Shoes

Laced-up interface between sole and upper

This shoe system would consist of soles with a narrow leather flange around the perimeter punched on a regular interval with holes for shoelaces. The uppers would similarly be perforated with a matching number of holes.

To assemble, simply (if tediously) lace up.

The idea is that it would be a retrofit for uppers on decrepit soles and "on-special" new shoes with great soles and incredibly ugly uppers. Or whenever else that footwear modularity is desired.

The original design of this shoe aparrently had a zip to seperate the sole and upper, though I can't find a picture - the design seems to have been changed very quickly to a more normal construction. [pocmloc, Jun 02 2011]

[+] I really like this! It can be quite unique - fashionwise- to create all kinds of shoes!
