Why the heck do all of our holidays seem to fall on Mondays? This is a very great inconvenience, because you can never hold a huge party on a mondays! It's very annoying to have to specify that the party is actually 2 days prior to the holiday. It would be much more convenient to just say "Auto-kegger at ... place on Saint Patricks Day" and have people know what you mean.

Annotation:

You propose adding quite a few workdays and schooldays to the calender.

WcW, Mar 08 2008

       Which Saturday?

MaxwellBuchanan, Mar 08 2008

Same saturday as Fudge the Facts Day was on .... March 15.

There ought to be quite a few workdays and schooldays on the calender.

quantum_flux, Mar 08 2008

       What WcW said. Bone.

imaginality, Mar 08 2008

Only if this is limited just to holidays that don't already provide their own day off.

I'm also of the fairly vehement opinion that St Patrick's Day should become a floating holidays, like Easter.

hidden truths, Mar 08 2008

I think we ought to make The Titanic Memorial Day a floating holiday also too.

MaxwellBuchanan, Mar 08 2008

       thats disgusting.

       Oops. Taste. I remember now.

MaxwellBuchanan, Mar 08 2008

Lusitania Day, Ark Royal Day, Hood Day, Battle of Jutland Day, Leyte Gulf Day... make 'em all floating holidays!

UnaBubba, Mar 08 2008

I'd go for all holidays falling on Fridays, but then, I like the 10-hour day, 4-day work week, so maybe they should fall on Thursdays.

whlanteigne, Mar 08 2008

OK, I'm confused. Are these holidays going to be floating or falling? I'd really like to get this cleared up so I know whether to wear a wetsuit or a hard hat.

       Thanks!

Canuck, Mar 09 2008

The holdays should all fall at once! Workers of the world, unite under your hard hats, and let the holidays crush those vile bosses who insist that we come to work on holidays!

ye_river_xiv, Mar 09 2008

They are orbiting ani-holidays that oscillate in and out of the blank ether of the cosmic background at a frequency of once per year and only blink into existance on their designated saturdays and say goodbye on their respective 5 star hangover sundays leaving a dizzying blackout memory that cannot even be remotely accessed until thursday of the following week.

quantum_flux, Mar 09 2008

If only there were some sort of alternative calender that ensured that a given date always fell on the same day of the week. Woe for the lack of such a calendar.

MaxwellBuchanan, Mar 09 2008

//but then, I like the 10-hour day, 4-day work week, so maybe they should fall on Thursdays.//

You lucky bastard. I'm stuck with the 12-hour day, 6-day week calendar at the moment. Salary job, eh? F^ck HR, I say.

Custardguts, Mar 09 2008

       The solution is pretty simple.
