For some of the deities that missed out on getting a day, they can have the other half of time.

Krishnanight
Ahuramazdanight
Mithranight
Isisnight
Shangdinight
Vishnunight
Itzamnanight

Before tearing apart the selections, consider, how does Tuesday make sense? Why should a Norse god of combat get one seventh of the Earth? The week ought to be dived into fourteenths, in order to spread the wealth.

Prolly kicked a lot of ass for it. Should we also name mornings?

daseva, Jun 03 2008

Looks like a list to me...

xandram, Jun 03 2008

       Yup...

       My suggestions would be:
Itzamanight
Ixtaubnight
Ixchelnight
Zooheekocknight
Adziznight
Kockupocketnight
Ixtahdoomnight
Ixchunchannight

This would require the insertion of an extra day, which would of course be referred to as:

       Ah Pookday

       How about Itllbealrightonthenight?

MaxwellBuchanan, Jun 03 2008

Well, this'd clear up the confusion about whether it's late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, and make sin decisions a bit easier. I'll bun for that.

Can we name one night for the modern alleged deity, the FSM? Just so we can have Spaghettinight once a week?

Don't badmouth the Norse gods. They'll be back someday, and they've got wolves.

baconbrain, Jun 03 2008

I think entire naming schemes are actually ok -it's individual names that are a problem.

xenzag, Jun 04 2008

So then you would be okay with this if I delete the individual names? That wouldn't be a problem, they aren't of critical importance here.

Laughs Last, Jun 04 2008

I don't think it's against the remit of the bakery to submit names for things that otherwise don't have names, it's renaming things that are already perfectly well-known that really gets on people's camels.

And you're not calling for a list, the idea is to name the nights, and not proposing we attempt to think up as many names for nights as possible.

There was an idea a while back to rename the Moon due to its non-specific noun of a name (there are other moons), which I rather liked, and was written really well, but that got deleted, so I don't attest to knowing everything. Just most.

       <theological pedant>
I think Ahuramazda was/is a monotheistic deity, and might therefore resent mere parity with the others and sulk. This kind of naming scheme fits better with collegial, if bickering, polytheistic gods.

Hang on. Didn't I say something similar about spiritual pornography? Never mind.

       //Ahuramazda//

Sounds like a Star Trek communications officer in a low-range Japanese sports car.

theleopard, Jun 04 2008

Oh, maybe you guys are right. I have never marked something for deletion before, and this is probably why-- I don't get it anyway. I'll take it away--swooooshhh~~~~

xandram, Jun 04 2008

//Why should a Norse god of combat get one seventh of the Earth//

Betcha wont tell him to his face!

And to answer your question; Cause no one else would either.

MikeD, Jun 04 2008

[x], don't apologize. I had a figurative foot over the line. To stave off criticism I have edited the idea so that hopefully only a few toes are crossing it.

Laughs Last, Jun 04 2008

Well, I actually like the idea, but I remember being booted for something similar but obvoiusly not the same. I have never marked anything for deletion before, so I'm apologizing for my mistake and bestowing a yummy night time snack croissant to you!
