I'm not sure about other operating systems, but I like the Windows icon click-and-drag interface for networks. I propose software that allows one the add another computer's clipboard as an icon just like a shared drive or printer. The person would double click on this icon to have the contents of that
computer's clipboard copied to the clipboard of the computer they are currently working on. Now, I realize that sending something to another computer's clipboard would have to be different. I suggest, that on the right click menu, just below "Cut" and "Copy", there would be a "Send to...". When the person clicked on "Send to..." a menu, similar to the window that comes up when one is trying to save or open something from an application, would come up. It would show a network tree, just like when trying to open a file. If the person wanted to send the contents to the other computer's clipboard, they would click on the clipboard icon. To have the contents saved as a text, bitmap, etc. (Depending on the type of contents) file, the person would select a folder or disk drive. Finally, to print, they would select the other computer's printer icon.

Imagine if a coworker accidentally copied a link to a porn-site to your clipboard and you pasted it into a document. A picture would be easy to catch, but I never bother to read URLs. |

This is such a great idea, I did a little search and found one! [link] Says it's for Windows or Linux. Looks like it works -- I put it on my Windows network. No clicking necessary. You copy it to the clipboard, and on the networked PC, just "Paste" it. This isn't as fancy as your idea, since you need to manually input a "port" if you want to access a specific workstation. It's a "Sourceforge" project, so it's a little sloppy -- needs the separate QT Runtime Library, and there's a link for that.
I keep a text file in the shared directories, to easily move text (settings, etc.), but the clipboard may be handy. |

The UI is not as you describe, but this functionality has shipped with Windows for years. From the Start menu, choose Run. Type CLIPBRD and hit enter. |

Clipbook Viewer will appear, and from the menus of this application you can not only access the clipboards of other PC's on your network, but you can store several items in a "clip book" and access those remotely too. |

CLIPBRD has virtually no features or control, but it does actually work at least...
Are you talking about MpCb? Again, virtually no features... I have hundreds programmed in.
They shouldn't be looking at porn anyway, especially at work. |
