No Nukes
Stickers and Signs that ban the Mushroom Cloud | |
There are no parking signs (a "P" in a circle with a slash through it), no U-Turn signs (a "U" in a circle with a slash through it)- why aren't there more no nukes signs. The international symbol could be a mushroom cloud inside a circle with a slash through it.
We are so concerend about terrorism,
especially a nuclear attack so we need some sort of sign that will communicate that there will be no atomic bombs in this country.
They could be made as little stickers that we can put on our cars. We can replace the torch Lady Liberty's holds in her hand with the sign - so that is it made clear: we will accept the poor, the huddled masses, as long as they don't bring any nukes with them. We can place the signs at the entrances to our cities and towns, "Welcome to Pleasantville, a nuclear free community." Takoma Park, Maryland, USA

Baked. Though I can almost understand not searching for this prior to posting, you should have anyway. |

Welcome to the HalfBakery. |
|
| |
Yes welcome, though I can't give you a croissant for this idea due to its bakedness I shall also refrain from giving you a smelly fishbone. Now sit back, have a cuppa, and enjoy the bready smells coming from the idea next door! |

So the message is: 'no nuke bombs, but yes to nuclear powerstations, a bomb by any other name, the question is how its used and its destructive capabilities. |
|
| |
I suppose I knew this product was baked, but I thought the application was not. The links graciously posted by Phoenix seem to point to anti-nuclear in general my thought was anti-nukes in specific (no one will bring a nuke in a suitcase into my neighborhood) The idea of a sticker/sign protecting us from terrorism is of course ludicrous, but so are many of our signs (55 MPH). Thanks for welcoming me to the HalfBakery, and your patience as I learn the codes of conduct for the site. |

[Darth Vader Voice]Do not under estimate the power of the bumper sticker [/DVV] |

Hope one of the News Division doesn't see this, as they'll televise a detailed report on how to make a Nuclear bomb, a competing Network will show how to acquire the essential components, then another Network will have a former cook from a research facility build one on it's morning show with the anchors. |

This reminds me of the huge number of signs that certain
London Boroughs had erected (at vast expense, one
presumes - it's an easy thing for a Local Councillor to
spend lots of other people's money...) which would read,
for example "Haringey - a nuclear free zone". These signs
were, I think, not intended to imply that none of the
atoms in Haringey had nuclei, but rather that certain
officials in the Haringey local governmnt beauracracy
were opposed to nuclear weapons. As Haringey had no
nuclear weapons manufacturing plants, would be unlikely
to escape the effects of a nuclear attack on London, and
even had no way of preventing nuclear weapons being
transported through the borough, these signs were a
complete and utter waste of money. |

Oh please. Yep, enough bumper stickers and we'll be rid of those damn nukes forever. That's all it takes. |

C'mon. Get back in your Zodiac and go chase a submarine or something. |

Further to hippo's comments, when I lived in Helensburgh (Scotland) the council distributed bin bags bearing the legend "Dumbartonshire - A Nuclear Free Zone", casually negelcting to mention that there was a dirty great nuclear submarine base (Faslane) four miles up the road. |

Was it just Artonshire before that? |

Apparently, detonating a nuclear device within the city
limits of Chico California is punishable by a $500 fine (see
link). |
|
| |
Yep, that ought to deter them. |
