Exercise would be so much easier if the temptation to stop and have a rest was taken away. Shoes made of a non-newtonian type material would start to run away under your feet if you were to stop moving them, making you have to be constantly on the move.
Another benefit would be that you could put
the shoes on by gently pushing your feet into them. The strange goopy shoes would mould around your feet and be a perfect fit.
I'm not sure custard or other non-newtonian fluids have the exact properties. The shoes would have to be sensitive enough to react to the forces of hitting the floor and being pulled upwards, but not so sensitive that just standing in them makes them sturdy enough to hold your weight.
Surely some kind of plastic shoe goop could be engineered somehow.

It must be possible to engineer a substance that has those kinds of properties. |

Study existing non-newtonian fluids, see how they work and then design a new one, or more than one that can be used together to get the desired effect. |

there could already be one that exists. maybe its just a matter of getting the right amount of custard powder. |

Good name, and could work with a dilatant material trapped in chambers around the shoe. |
