Idischler's recent anno made me thing this might be a good thing. A lot of times someone posts an idea on the halfbakery and someone else points out that the idea was already done in an old book or movie. It would be interesting to go to a web site and read through short summaries of ideas posted by contributors as they found them in books. The ideas could be categorized like they are in the halfbakery so you could scan through the area that fit your mood. (I wonder if this idea is an old idea...)

       Halfbaked Kitchen Companion?

I'm not sure I understand. Would this be a site that mirrors Halfbakery links? HBOOGLE?

reensure - No. If a couple of ideas in a book you're reading strike you as new you'd go to the website when you're done and post them there. That way people who went to the web site later on, either to find out if their own idea had already been thought up or to find inspiration on a dull day, could browse through the ideas to see if any met their need.

jutta - Sort of. At first glance that site seems to narrow the list down to ideas that are on their way to becomming reality. Feasibility wouldn't be a criteria for posting ideas on the site. Any idea that seemed sufficiently new ,or not in the mainstream, could be posted.

I rather like that 'pimp my heart' ride.

I think I do the pointing out "This is in a book" quite often, especially when it deals with sci-fi.
