I'm no great fan of paintball, but I've had a go a few times. I got pelted, of course. Particularly by my brother - another story.

Anyway, part of the game seemed to be revolve around "I shot you, you're dead" - "No I'm not, you missed" discussions, and then searching for the incriminating splat of paint.

For those for whom winning is everything, I recommend a suitably sturdy suit, covered with a pattern of hundreds of splat-marks of every colour of paintball.

"Hit" - "No, it wasn't - just see if you can find a splat on me!"

Refs would just carry around a pocket full of clean white paper towels or handkerchiefs for a quick wipedown. If it came up with paint, you're out. No more arguments.

       I don't get it. With the camouflage, he's pre-splatted. Pre-dead.

i haven't ever had the problems you guys are descrbing. i think it mainly is determined by how serious the people you play with are. a lot of places will knock you off the field if you argue with a ref, and a call for a paintcheck is usually sufficient to deal with this. besides, refs get really good at telling what's a fresh splat, and what's older.

A lot of competitive games rely on people playing by the rules and generally owning up when they're beaten. Paintball's no exception. If you're inside cover, you can just wipe the mark off and carry on, but that's really not what it's about. For my part, if I shoot at someone and they don't leave the field, most likely I missed. I'm a highly inexperienced paintballer.

Now what you need are super-thin peel-off layers that you can shove in your pocket.
