A training cycle hooked up to a stereo, turntable, video game controller, DVD player, VCR, iPod and 'phone charger, rechargeable reading lamp, batteries for your vibrator and many more entertainment devices... even a laptop powered by vigorous arm movements.

The longer you enjoy, the less you weigh. Listen to music while you pedal, lose weight even while you laugh along with your favourite TV shows, if you happen to have a pedal-powered TV.
(This idea is part of the Home, Sweat Home project)

Integral part of the project, [hippo], or I would never have posted it. No-one proposed something that is necessary for all of these devices, from one power generation unit. Additionally, RolandCo claims prior art, for proprietary ownership of the technology, as used in the People-powered Pornhound 'Puter. [link]

       Idea edited to nullify [mfd].

Are these Home, Sweat home ideas anything to do with a new years resolution? sp:revolution.

skinflaps, Jan 03 2008

[hippo], much as we hate to been seen to support [UB] in anything (other than assisted suicide), we feel obliged to challenge your MFD on the grounds that this is indeed a component of a coherent set of related ideas.

However, the concept of [UB] actually producing a coherent set of ideas is not only so bizarre as to lead us to suspect that his account has been hacked, but has also made us feel rather poorly and in need of a little lie down in a darkened room......

Yeah, he escaped on a technicality - he had a clever brief ... next time he's up before the beak he'll be bang to rights he will, he'll sing like a canary and he'll be going daaahn - they'll chuck him in chokey and they'll throw away the key.

//anything to do with a new years resolution//

Umm... err... <scuffs toe in dirt, tugs forelock, coughs gently> ... no?

UnaBubba, Jan 03 2008

I dunno, [UB]. I hate to be negative, but haven't we done various "use excercise machines to generate electricity" ideas? I think you'd have been better off putting all these ideas into the single "Home, Sweat Home" idea; once you have the basic idea, the others sort of follow automatically.

MaxwellBuchanan, Jan 03 2008

This is the only one of the pack that generates electricity. The others are pumps, rotational power generators or just plain hard work.

Why don't you have an email address on your profile, BTW?

UnaBubba, Jan 03 2008

Well, how about the "Kid-powered TV" which seems to be basically the same (excercise if you want to watch TV)? OK, I'm not grinding any axe, just thought that all these ideas could have been sentences in the description of the original idea.

And I don't have an email address because, if I did, people might email me. (Nothing personal - it's a general thing.)

I've used a stationary bike powered television, which had a very small black and white screen (probably >9"). It was very difficult to run it for even a few seconds (although I was young, and have a lung disease which causes me to have very little endurance).

Wow. This place is turning into a real love-in.

Unless I'm being horribly obtuse here (and missed seeing your tongue tucked away in your cheek), did you really need to say that? Do you feel better now? Was that the most classy thing you've said this week?

Custardguts, Jan 03 2008

It's OK. He can't really help it. He's from the privileged classes, after all.

UnaBubba, Jan 03 2008

Wife: Hi honey how was your day? Husband: Terrible, the car broke down and I had to walk 10 miles to get to back home. Wife: Oh how awful, what can I do to help. Husband: It's alright, I just want to lie on the couch and watch TV. Wife: No problem . . . um, you'll just need to keep the bike at about 30 revs a minute.

Brett-Blob, Jan 03 2008

Husband: Ifyou really love me you'll pedal for me, darling.
Wife: Of course I will, honey.

Yes, of course it's all sweetness and light, that is until she finds out she also has to use a pedal powered vibrator . . . this will not stand !
