Peripatetic Food Court Tables
Space efficiency, as you like it.

The modern retail shopping centre is not complete without a food court: a sea of communal tables, to seat the starving hordes at appropriate times during the day.

The downside to this design is the presumption that you will be in parties of two or four. When there is a surplus of single diners there develops an awkward social shuffle that involves preying on people who look as though they will give you the nod to sit opposite them while they eat, at their single occupant table.

It also involves trying to avoid the utter nutters, who sit there, slurping food and muttering and drinking Coke through their left nostril, etc.

The Food Court Table is a single seat with a foldout table mounted to one arm of the chair. It follows you around, on wheels, carrying your meal tray until you decide where to sit (alone or with friends and family) then it waits for you to sit, holding your meal, ready, in front of you.

Multiple tables will arrange themselves into an interlocked table of two or three or more, to give you a stable eating surface for you and your friends, if you wish.

Once you are all finished eating the table refolds, wiping itself clean and storing your trash, to deposit in the nearest bin. It then goes back to a corner, to wait for another patron while it recharges its batteries.

I thought this would be about tables that were easier to move or reconfigure. Instead I'm going to bun it.

Can it unfold the table as soon as it starts to follow so that you don't have to carry the tray?

I on't see why not, [ood]. Fixed.

First I had to go look up "peripatetic." Then I had to come back here and bun this thing.

I especially like the potential dodge'em cars aspect of this idea during a busy weekend lunch rush.

I think the cost of fast food just went up.

If you're consuming coke then it did. If nothing else it's "fast" food. Users talk at 3 times the usual rate, I've noticed.
