Physical ejection USB port

When a USB device is inserted, it compresses a spring which then latches.

When the device is "stopped" a solenoid releases the spring, physically ejecting the device.

The DeLuxe version has a servomotor instead of a spring, giving controlled ejection speeds.

The Super DeLuxe Premium version, developed in conjunction with Morton Thiokol, Martin-Baker, Smith & Wesson and Al-Quaeda, uses extruded double-base nitrocellulose propellant instead of a servomotor and/or spring, giving entirely uncontrolled ejection speeds.*

*Void where prohibited. Not recommended for use indoors. May cause death or serious injury if used correctly.

Oooh, and you could play the sound of an old Mac ejecting a floppy!

Is this for use with silver-tipped USB sticks, as some kind of undead-repellant?

I ask purely out of curiosity.

Silver tipped, garlic-impregnated wooden stake … "Van Helsing" brand, ask for it by name…

[xav], yes, we have looked at that but crucially the Prior Art makes no reference to servo control.

[xen], this is built into the host device, thus saving space & mass in the peripheral - not the same.

This would be great if it found a corrupted file and made the sound of a cat coughing up a fur ball or a "ptuei!" sound as it shot it out.

       Bun to 8 and Xen.

Bun to FT as well then.

And by the way, to anybody else that comes up with an idea that gives computers a little more personality.

This would of course sort out those annoying devices that automatically reconnect whenever they detect that they are not connected - such as immediately after you 'eject' them. (A herring sandwich! I like herring sandwiches.)

I thought you were meant to just pull them out, and then click the thankyou button that the computer shows you afterwards?
