Pigskizzy

Football without the foot, so much.

I’ve noticed many halfbakers have little appreciation for American Football. And it seems the general sentiment is that it moves too slowly. That’s how I feel about what the rest of the world calls football, and we call soccer. Cultural difference, I imagine. The name Football is more fitting with that game, anyway.

And with my spin-off the American classic, there will be no need for confusion.

Pigskizzy plays exactly as American Football, but with a few key changes—NO PUNTING and NO FIELD GOALS. In fact, the only time kicking is allowed is at the beginning of the game. Definitely make for interesting scenarios right around the goal lines.

If you still think it’s long and boring, we’ll have less referees, or more cheerleaders, or streakers, or drunken crowd fights, or weapons, or lifelines (Ask the audience? Yes. Phone a friend? No.)

They still have field goals, but they've gotten rid of punting. [DonBirnam, Oct 04 2004, last modified Oct 21 2004]

I'd play it, can't kick to save my life.

       Punting is for sissies anyway.

Why even keep the kick at the beginning of the quarter? A good QB launch would do fine. Go the whole hog, outlaw touching pigskin ball with foot à la NBA.

yabba suspect but can't prove that this has been baked not as a sport but as a training game, why not just switch to a real mans sport Rugby Union?

I like the chess-like strategy of the game.
