Pool cleaning devices have come a long way from their humble beginnings, but they still fall flat on their face in two major areas: scrubbing the water line, and getting the leaves out.
Now, Virtucom has solved these problems, with the all new pool cleaning cat & cat.
The workhorse of our device
is a solar powered catamaran, a little more than a foot in size ( slightly less than half a meter for those to the east of the Atlantic)
The sides of the catamaran are bumpered with scrubbing material, and when the catamaran bumps into the sides of the pool, it scrapes along a bit before turning around.
The upper deck of the catamaran is covered over in solar panels, except for a pair of bars, which are part of the other cat, a catapult.
These catapult poles are attached to a rear-mounted drag net, which collects leaves, dust, and bugs as the boat sails around the pool. When the boat hits the edge of the pool, it launches this refuse out into the yard, where it will safely compost. Less adventurous pool owners can turn off this feature, and empty the nets manually, but what fun is that?
The pool cleaning cat & cat can also be equipped to dose the pool with chlorine through it's twin pontoon floats.
EDIT: The pool cleaning cat & cat also comes with a remote control, and can be switched to remote operation for nasty pool fights.
Virtucom is still working on getting the trebutchet model to work with the nets and solar power, but company enthusiasm is low for the "pool cleaning cat & butch" model. My inspiration

The catapult is what sold me. The only
thing that wold make it better is if it
came with a controller and adjustment.
Cleaning devise and entertainment,
watch out neighbors! |

Cool idea, and much different than I expected from the title. I thought there'd be a pair of felines somehow licking the water surface clean. Here are a couple of suggestions: |
|
| |
- Upgrade the catapult to a trebuchet so we can launch the refuse into the neighbour's yard. |
|
| |
- As an optional attachment build a bottom-crawling cleaner unit tethered to and powered by the catamaran. When it is full it surfaces and spits its contents into the trebuchet for disposal. |

Some modifications have been made as requested. I maintain guarded enthusiasm for other significant departures from the simplicity of the original design. |
