Some time ago somebody came up with caffienated water. Why not have caffiene available in powdered form?

One obvious benefit is that you are no longer limited to choosing between coffee, tea, jolt, or the caffienated water when you need, er, caffiene. Simply stir the powdered caffiene into what ever drink you wish to have (orange juice?).

I would also think that this would be a boon to people who wish to have more caffiene in their coffee, or who wish to control the amount of caffiene. (Much like a 2-in-1 milk instant coffee was launched to allow consumers to control the amount of sugar that goes into it)

Well, what of the pill form? See link. Can be washed down with the beverage of your choice.

       Caffeine.

Liability reasons. I searched once for pure caffiene for this same reason - you can get it industrially. However, in my search I found stories of people taking too much and ending up drinking from the great coffee pot in the sky.

Saves all the hardcores from having to crush it before they snort it!

//Saves all the hardcores from having to crush it before they snort it!//

Wellcoolstuff.com sells it and recommends snorting; I don't. Nasal membranes provide way too quick a route to the bloodstream. At least with Pro Plus, you can induce vomiting, not that I'd rely on that.

Still, makes for an amusing Darwin Award. Perhaps I'll read about this on Ananova.

//a lethal dose being 10 gm, the equivalent of 100 cups of coffee, deaths due to caffeine overdose are rare." //

Then Wellcoolstuff.com sells it in packets of two lethal doses. Go figure.

Didn't we do a recaffinated decaf idea here recently? And BTW, Google search of "Caffeine Powder" returns 221 hits, many of which are offers for sale.

Sorry, gotta bone this one for being fully baked and widely known. But maybe, just maybe, you could get a plus from me if you had proposed something sexy and new, like powdered grain (74 hits), powdered cane juice (10 hits) or powdered dehydrated sea water (0 hits!).

The powdered dehydrated sea water has been done. It's called "Instant Ocean", for use with home aquariums... :)

This is another one of those ideas where it's so obviously an existing product that I'm getting email from businesses who want links from the page, but not quite obviously enough to mark it for deletion.

Do a Web search before posting, it's what all the cool kids do these days. Thanks!

I have a 500g pot of extremely pure caffeine sitting on my windowsill at work, inherited from a previous occupant. After a bit of research on dosage, I added half a gram to a cup of coffee. The results were quite alarming, and I've already got a high threshold for caffeine.

I also discovered that it's soluble in pure ethanol. Ethanol alone is pretty vile, as is powdered caffeine, but for some reason they taste OK in combination. I have yet to do more than taste this stuff, though.
