information is really just variances in voltage, on and off. So, in the same way you have a network switch/router/hub, you can build a power network.

this is built upon the idea of every house having a fuel cell that is recharged via wind/solar/fossil fuel power production, (see decentralize the power grid). If your fuel cell was running out, or if your whole town had a cloudy day, you could just "download" more power from neighboring houses/cities.

the DC power sent through the lines could be used to run a generator, the routers would distribute evenly, and the power could create a faux AC that would send bursts to an electric motor.

...so basically re-inventing the power grid?

yes, but with this you could contribute to the grid. instead of the fuel cell being just for you, it would be shared. kinda like communism. stalin would be proud. really...

The power grid we have today is a linear (bus) network. This idea is to make a power grid like a star network, where information (power) goes both ways. just think of the fuel cell as a computer, sending and reciving power from other computers and getting power (like user input) from the solar panels.

       Like net metering...which is baked.

I think what you're describing in the last paragraph is effectively an inverter, which converts DC to the appropriate AC.
