Privacy Beverage Labels

won't offend people with drinking issues

I’m thinking of making some reusable boxes, just a fraction of an inch wider and longer than a regular 12 pack beverage box. One end of the box can be opened and resealed with the aid of a sturdy patch of Velcro. I’ll have one, red, with the letters COLA printed on it, another green and yellow with the words LEMON and LIME woven into the pattern, and others bright ORANGE or GRAPE patterned. I’ll have to keep a few of these in my car, then, when I decide to bring home my REAL favorite box of beverages, I can slide it inside one of these boxes, seal it up, and my nosy neighbors won’t get any attitudes about judging my habits. I’ll have a tape dispensing machine, with rolls of tape, with patterns similar to the boxes, to cover the labels of my cans. I’d like it to hold at least 12 cans, and all I do is crank out relabeled cans, so when I’m enjoying a beverage on my deck or in the yard, or at public rec. area, I won’t offend anyone. If this experiment works fine for me I’ll think of mass producing and selling at liquor stores. I’m not the one who invented the term “Preacher Bags”, which I’ve heard used at liquor stores when someone ask for a bag, so I must not be the only one who would take advantage of private labels.

Baked already for cans, but the box idea is amusing. I saw a guy at the swapmeet selling self-adhering mock soda pop labels that would fit cans.

Bottles would be more of a challenge, and what would I do with a bottle of tequila or champagne?

       But a bun anyway.

I just wrote PEPSI with black magic marker on my gallon jug of Gallo and everyone in my neighborhood left me alone.

Yeah, that should do it. We're probably going to hear from BADD any moment now. And this needs a better category.

Why the caps? Is there some subtle irony here?
Texticle, Apr 12 2006

If you need to hide your drinking, you have a problem. If your problem is nosey, judgemental neighbors, I recommend Louis Prima and Meister Brau.

Much better, thank you. I guess there was no irony.

[admin: Moderators, in this case me, rename ideas from attention grabs like double spacing, extra punctuation, or ALL CAPS to conventional titles. The idea is that if it doesn't persist, people will eventually stop doing it. If there was irony to be had, feel free to rename it back and explain the joke.]

Another way to deter nosey neighbors is to wrap your box in some birthday wrapping paper and put a big pink bow on it. Leave one side undone for easy can removal. At concerts, etc. I put alcoholic beverages in MacDonald's cups or vodka in water bottles.

I knew it, I just knew it! You're all a bunch of lushes! You will damned to the fiery pits below and Satan will have his way with you for all eternity!

Ahem- do you know where I could get one of those label/box thingies? Just for research, of course.

Even if this person does have a drinking problem, the neighbours should offer to help instead of being nosey. I like the idea. I have an idea that is somthing to do with alcohol... http://www.halfbakery.com /idea/Alcohol_20Level_20 Tester#1147297671

[thepowerofone], there is a space, just under the idea description, reserved for links. I've moved your link there.
