Regift Israel
It's a white elephant anyway

The reason people gave white elephants as a gift in the Eastern world was to bankrupt their enemies in a friendly way. It usually took more than the receiver could afford to maintain the elephant.

In a sense, that's what's happening in Israel. If God truly did give the country to the Jewish people then, judging by how much it's cost them, it was a crappy gift. Maybe the Jews should just regift it to the Palestinians. How could God be upset at them if His gift was given to someone else in the name of love or compassion for them?

You can get away with dusting them less often.

I am metaphorically bunning [imaginality]'s annotation. Or perhaps it would prefer a peanut.

po - Oddly enough the answer to your question is yes, grey elephants are cheaper to maintain. The difference is that white elephants are considered sacred, much like Israel, and therefore require much more expensive tending to.

they could give it to buddhists, that might just piss Him off.

Or they could just give it to the world. Make it a World Heritage Site.

This idea wasn't intended to be for or against Israel. It was simply intended to show there is a door number 3 that could be opened.

       + yes, OK.

I say give it to the Swiss. They'll just do nothing with it - like one great big religious powderkeg fruitcake.

Imagine if Moses had turned right instead of left coming out of the Sinai desert - the Israelites would've had the oil.

So why is it that Humans tend to build capital cities in swamps and declare that deserts are holy sites? Are we just gluttons for irony, or what? Oh, and an matzo for the idea.

//So why is it that Humans tend to build capital cities in swamps and declare that deserts are holy sites?// When humans first arrived there it was paradise. Ever hear of the Fertile Crescent?

So you are saying we do it to ourselves?
