Regurgitative Seating
Spits out the things you drop between the seats

As mentioned earlier in an annotation many things of value simply slip between the seats of public conveyances such as trains. I know a guy who cleans buses. He once told me they collect several hundred dollars a week from between the seats of the city fleet.

A simple springloaded device could spit them back out at you as you get up to leave the seat.

It also has to have some suitably bizarre sound effect, to attract your attention to the fact you dropped something. "HRuuaarrKK! Ptooey!"

This would also make it hard to dispose of used gum between the seats.

Because of where I live, I need about half-a-dozen keys to get into my house. It is my greatest dread that one day my keys would betray me and slip out on the journey home... Croissant for the "Ptooey!" sound.

Peter, I'm a little unsure how a rat is going to help?

Perhaps PS has his own retriever rats, trained to leap out of his pockets, crawl behind the cushions and retrieve lost property? Actually, given the hundred dollars a week your mate speaks of, perhaps PS's retriever rats would be a nice little earner on the NY subway.

Hmm. Sudden image of PS as Fagan, singing "You Gotta Pick a Pocket or Two" to his little rodent gang.

would it return your left property? I have this mental image of getting off the tube train and this gadget throwing my umbrella after me.

Don't, please don't, tell us you also scavenge bins for aluminium cans to recycle?

Having invested a lot of money in public transportation I have to say yes. +

I left my cell phone on a train last month. Very sad they didn't have these seats.
