Remote Mobile Phone
Gone bush, share your phone to link back to the real world...

So, your out bush, cruising along the Birdsville track. No mobile signal and not a payphone for trillions of Kilometres.

What is a mobile phone, just a 2 way radio really. Here's the cunning plan. Mobile phones have a range of a few kilometres?

So, why not use the phone to detect other mobile phones in your immediate area and use them to "relay" calls until they are close to a mobile phone aerial.

The nice thing is that you could get credits on your account everytime someone piggybacks through your phone...

I think you've highlighted the problem with your own idea.. mobile phones are designed to communicate with a base station, not with each other. If you want each mobile to be a relay-style base station itself, then you'd best be prepared for a bigger battery, and a sore head from the radiation.
