It's a common trend that older and older generations are playing video games. It's also a common trend that people are retiring at 65 and that they are living much longer too. Also, it's very good for younger generations to go visit old folks at their retirement homes, but it is common knowledge that kids don't like old people.... maybe they just don't relate or something.... at least not yet they don't!

ANYWAY, the retirement homes of the future are going to have a way of solving this problem by building a retirement home arcade. That's it, finally kids will have a good reason to visit the elderly, and that reason is to kick their butts in an old fashioned game of Space Invadors, Donkey Kong, Guitar Hero, et all.

This gaming competition with the youngin's would also serve to keep the old folks concentration levels and attention spans at peak levels until they grow really old and then keel over. Also, this is how heaven on earth works in the future, and that is much better than it does now.

Also a good way to "retire" old game systems.

you could put arcade games belonging to the logic puzzle category [is there a sudoku arcade game?, i've seen the trivial pursuit ones with 3 competitors] - i've read they help the brains stay in shape, prevents the onset of alzheimer's.

I think the only games that appeal to the elderly is Wii. I haven't heard of many who'd like Pong, etc. I know my parents wouldn't.

You're making the assumption that older people living in the relative peace and quiet of a retirement home would like to be visited by a bunch of rowdy, videogame arcade hooligans.

The cool thing is that you could really simplify the games. Mario would only need one level because it'll be brand new again tomorrow!
