To deter Trick or Treaters, unroll your new "Retreat or Trap Door?" bristle feet cleaning mat, that sits in front of your main entrance door.

On the mat are clearly inscribed the words in bold capital letters:

Trick or Treaters
WARNING!
Retreat or Trap Door?

The carpet has convincing low relief details, like hinges and a false perimeter edge, applied to its underside that indicate that it is in fact, or could be covering a cellar door. This is supplemented by a small illuminated hazard sign on the actual front door warning of the presence of a deep cellar, and depicting a person falling helplessly into its dank confines.

The front entrance door cannot be reached unless the visitor stands fully on the carpet. See how brave they really are!

xenzag, Oct 31 2013

I can neither confirm nor deny that.

       I wrote boogers in it.

But what's up with 'news' update. Is that another halloween game, to find the common denominator for all the wurds?
rcarty, Oct 31 2013

The entire effect is based on establishing a visually convincing illusion, so it has to be a false perimeter edge.
