Roland stood, nervously waiting for the RCC, the jacket and harness cutting tightly into the soft flesh under his arms and crotch.
An approaching rumble was the first indication it was coming... A long string of people hanging from hooks, under a long, snaking rail.
Roland flicked a glance up
at the loop above his head then at the approaching hook, dangling behind the last commuter. The breeze of a forest of feet swishing past, just inches above his head, was scary.
With a sudden jerk he was airborne, the cool morning air knifing into his ears and nostrils.
The view from up here was pretty cool, at 30mph and 20ft above the gridlocked traffic.
All too soon, Roland reached his stop. The green light on his harness was flashing, a speaker on the harness insisting, in his left ear, "Release the harness now and fall with your knees bent". He did so, crashing into the airbag with a THOOMPHF ! Strangely, it didn't hurt as much as it seemed it should.
Roland scrambled to the edge of the landing area with a dozen other passengers, shrugging out of his personal harness as he went. Time for work. MetroCoaster Mass Transit System
http://www.halfbake..._20Transit_20System A very similar idea about commuting via Rollercoster - also from the hand of [UnaBubba] [hippo, Oct 06 2004]

Very ironic--A rollercoaster with the purpose of cutting down waiting in long lines. |

I was about to annotate your short-lived idea...No UnaBubba. You are our indentured servant and therefore can not quit. You better take this job and love it! |

Automate the harness release, like the "bus stopping" button on public transport. Press button as you approach your stop; harness releases you when you arrive over the airbag. |

Once in RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 I tried to make a hypercoaster that had 4 stations all over the place for fun transport. Even though I decided not to build it for some reason, I think it's cool. These 2 ideas are very similar, so croissants to you. |

Doesn't have to be in the whole city either. You can have it in a large mall. Takes you over the crowds to the front of the waiting line at the supermarket exit. Maybe a softer type of landing is needed for the groceries. Would take you all the way to your car. |
