Why not get an RC car? What commands do you need to give a Roomba? Clean this, clean that? For the amount of effort you'd put into micro-managing the Roomba, you could just as easily clean the floor yourself. The whole point of a Roomba is that it's autonomous. |

btw, congrats on your 2-year Halfbakery anniversary! |

I envision plenty of creative uses for a Roomba besides vacuuming. |
|
| |
- creating crop circles
- serving snacks at a childrens' slumber party
- drawing a picture
- chasing pets
- emulating a pet
- finding land mines (only once)
- playing "tag"
- scaring away intruders
- performing arts (envision multiple Roombas spinning and moving in formation) |

Perhaps additional mods would be needed to achive some of these goals. But the Roomba is far more useful for such tasks than an rc car. The Roomba can detect the edges of objects, can prevent itself from falling down stairs. |

Apparently roboticists around the globe are lamenting the demise of the AIBO, the best adapt-in-the-manner- of-your-choosing cheap bot to experiment with, and they're looking for a replacement. I think you've found it. |
