A 150 decibel clock built like a Rubik's cube (albeit simpler) would require the sleeper to solve the damn puzzle (around 20 seconds) for it to shut the hell up. Resets itself and the puzzle automatically.

Or there's the self-solving clock version... http://www.halfbakery.com/idea/Rubiklock
shameless plug [RayfordSteele, Oct 04 2004]

Annotation:

"Throw it in the freezer!" comes to mind..

Something as fragile as the average Rubik's cube would not survive around me if it behaved like that.

I'd Probably run around like a C List celeb worrying about their new dress before throwing it a Looooooooong way out of the window, if this is designed as a wake up call then you get a smelly fish. If however you decide its best used as a torture device, have a bready croissant.
