Few things make you feel better than having just restored the original sparkle to your automotive pride and joy.
Few things are as pointless and time-consuming as washing a car, only to have it rain a few hours later.
The AutoClean system does away with that concern. Available as a factory
option or a retrofit, AutoClean is an automated cleaning system for your noble chariot. Soap sprinklers, water jets and narrow string-like brushes give your car the once over in a matter of minutes.
The brushes are strung between motors mounted along the closure lines of the vehicle and gently brush through the soap mix sprayed ahead of the brushes, passing through grit traps and a rinse chamber with every revolution.
Once a panel is clean the brushes silently motor back to their concealed start positions. A quick rinse and a fine misting of anti-static compound containing water and dust repellants complete the job.
All at the touch of a button.
AutoClean Inc. will have developed a system for your make and model before Christmas. Pilkington's glass for cars?

Pop-up sprinklers, mounted along the front and back edges of the roof and in the wheel arches. |

Does it have a blow-up doll that inflates from the windshield wiper well to sponge the roof, pressing her wet, lathered chest against the glass? |

I mentioned something like this last week on another idea. there is a new type of glass that has been developed that cleans itself. I will try to find a link. |

If you have shelled out for a black Porsche 911 turbo model, yes. It will go nicely with your thick gold necklace and recently divorced status. |

Its one of those "add a step to your daily life, pay more for it " ideas. Self cleaning glass, all you have to do is hose it off. well shit thats what you do when your cleaning glass already. The thin coating of titanium whatnot would probably wear off in time and you would have to revert back to the old fashioned way of cleaning.
The self cleaning car. All you have to do is keep it supplied with soap, water and a water filter. If there is no filter to then you get water spots which are worse than mudd. The added weight and power drain would mean you have to plug your car in or leave the motor running.
So get out the soap, the hose the replacement filter, the power cord and some towels and let the self cleaning car do its magic.

If you dip red-hot glass in molten potassium, you get very strong glass. I wastched this guy drop a 1 lb steel bearing from 20 ft onto a piece of such treated glass. The glass sort of deformed, and popped back to normal. |

In 11 years of driving, I have never, ever, not once, washed my car. But this isn't a bad idea for those who are into that sort of thing... |
