"...Ok cool, you wanna meet up again some time? Cool, I'll look for you on bluetooth......GP103? No? Ok what is your bluetooth name? prittyphonegurlxx1? ok hold on......ah there you are.......you accepting the number? There we go it's sent. All you have to do now is prank me and I'll have your number too....got it in your phonebook? Oh it's ringing, got your number now...ok saving it - how do you spell your name? Shershee? What the...How do you spell that? S-A-I-O-R-S-E...Rains? Oh wait predictive text is on, ok then it's saved. I'll call you soon!"

With the aid of this invention, such conversations can be wiped out in a matter of months:

All phones will have a metal contact in one of the corners underneath a removeable cover. When two phones touch at this point, a designated amount of information is sent - be it phone number, short digital business card, bluetooth 'location' or a combination. Old phones can indeed connect to a small piece of hardware to allow the same functions, but you may well own a new one soon anyway.

I don't get it. Why not use infrared.

This idea seems to take place in a parallel universe where bluetooth is a chat service application on which people "go" and have human-readable names. That's very strange. Is someone commercial making such claims? Did you mean AIM, ICQ, MSN, IRC, Yahoo Chat, Google Chat, Jabber?

I ilke the basic idea - have an electronic "details" exchange format that requires just a single interaction to trigger, and make that interaction physical.

//I don't get it. Why not use infrared.// I assumed that came through in the idea - first of all the information needs to be located on the phone, then selected and the option to send via infrared chosen. Then it requires lining the phones up.

This consists of a simple touch.

Also, in response to //Did you mean AIM, ICQ, MSN, IRC, Yahoo Chat, Google Chat, Jabber?//, I think you are referring to the "bluetooth location" part?

In that case I just meant that other devices can currently be added to phones for quicker transfer of files at another time without having to search. This invention simply saving the "bluetooth signature" onto the phone.

       Sorry if I misunderstood that.

I think this is a good idea. I can never remember my own phone details to tell someone else. It would be a very useful tool for networky bussiness types and of course very sociable people!

The electrified contacts used to transfer this information might also be used as a sort of low-voltage taser.

If everyone had Van der Graaf mobile phones then the phones could just spark between themseleves to send data.
