Sing for your Snack

Vending Machine with Built-In Karaoke Video Game

With the advent of more socially oriented video game consoles, home Karaoke games have become increasingly popular. The format of most of these games is that one has to sing the lyrics of a popular tune into the game console microphone while the console provides the accompaniment. However, unlike normal Karaoke, where the goal is solely to make a mockery of oneself for social or professional networking purposes, the objective of the Karaoke game is to appease the timbre and pitch detection software in order to receive a passing grade and advance to the next level.

I propose that this system is to be installed into a vending machine that is situated in a foyer of a large shopping mall or an outdoor plaza. After paying for a snack, the customer can choose a song to sing, and if he receives a passing grade, the machine refunds his money. The rationale from a business standpoint is that the audience of consumers will be compelled to hang around just a bit longer than they otherwise would have.
