Single Stacking Garages

Basically, a parking garage for stacked homes. The structure is basically a rectangular box with several decks. Each deck is an individual garage for the home that it is attached to. Each resident reaches their own level via freight elevator. For security puropses, to make it work you must enter your own individual PIN, which automatically takes you to your deck. To get to someone else's deck, you must call them from the call box provided on the ground floor and have them press a button in their home. There is, of course, an emergency stairwell, and the doors are openable from the inside for evac purposes, but locked from outside entry. To open the doors, a PIN or Call Box authorization is still required.

In the event of a power outage, the elevators are powered by backup generators.

Be sure to watch the video. A larger, more watchable version of the video is also available on YouTube as "PhantomPark Parks Your Ride Underground" which focuses on the device as a security measure for collectable vehicles. [jurist, Oct 18 2006]
