Skwalkers
Ski boots are made for skiin’. And that’s just what they’ll do. But wouldn’t it be nice if you could walk in the darn things too?

Downhill ski boots largely immobilize your ankles and have long inflexible soles. If you haven’t tried walking in them, I’m sure you can imagine why it is difficult.

Introducing ‘Skwalkers’, the downhiller’s boots made for walkin’. A simple concept, really. The bottom of the boot is rounded from front to back when need be.

This is accomplished by pushing down on a lever located at the back of the boot. The lever forces a semi-rigid metal strip within the sole to bow. The latch locks in place leaving a rounded swath of tread down the center. Simply release the latch to don your skis.

Comes adorned with images of smiling parrots wearing goggles and a promise of happy knees.

snowboard instead. not only are the boots a little easier to walk in but its far more entertaining.

I'm fairly new to snowboarding, and though I like it, I'll never give up the skis. The boots are easier to walk in, and I've heard rumors of clets that can be attached to them so they can be used for skiing as well, but these may be fictional - I can't find them.

They had them for snow blades but found they were too wide.

Most of the ankle imobilisation is for support. I know some pro skiers who have boots that have a 'walk' and 'ski' thing at the back which tighten and loosen the joint. While I couldnt tell the difference either way one of them could hardly ski with it set to walk.

I learnt to ski years ago and so dont really want to give up and learn snowboarding from scratch, but I would advice anyone learning to do either to learn snowboarding because it takes a lot less time to start looking good.

I had a pair of Lange ski boots over 20 years ago that had a "walk" button. The main problem with walking in ski boots is that you tend to put the heel down first, which just presents the edge of the rear binding lug which then slides away. Simple slip-on rubber soles cure this.
