Smart Dust comes in a small sachet. Empty the contents over the nearest surface and over time the nanobots will breed using dead skin cells and cat keratin, gradually spreading around your abode.
Excess material is formed into objet d'art.
The nanobots taking care of a surface have a strong resemblence
to dust, but on command they will switch out of cleaning mode and present themselves as neat leopard prints, scales, mondrian or pinstripes.

Would be bakeable with 1cm sized robots and a coordinating computer, but that wouldn't give a very good pin-stripe effect on your furniture. But just you wait, when nanotechnology becomes big news, this will be one of the first things implemented. |
