You know how with some gas stoves you put on those little coily-things? Why not make them a little bit more stylish for your average goth by making them with scales and ridges, so that they can look like lizards or snakes.

(?) Gas hob http://www.stacksre.../images/gas_hob.jpg
Thanks [froglet], this is what I had in mind. Can you do anything with it? [wagster, Mar 09 2005]

I guess I could [wagster]. How about making them with an etching in them, and the etching is filled with some chemical or metal, so that when it turns on, it will show a picture, like a dragon, or the loch ness monster, or some form of animal people like (tiger, tiger, burning bright, in the forests of the night...) in bright red, which will be pleasing to the eye? (no, i don't have a clue of what chemical/metal I'd put in it to make it glow a lot...)

froglet, sure they are not electric coils?
po, Mar 10 2005

I reckon that could (and maybe should) be done.

       yes, nice thinking here.

       [zeno] Thanks

[wagster] I think they could be done, I don't think it would be too hard to etch them in.

For safety reasons gas burners are designed not to get too hot, so you would would need something that glows at very low temperatures (100-200 degrees at a rough guess). Carbon might do the trick, but that's all I can think of.

don't understand what you have in mind. Froglet's link is broken and a search for "Gas hob" images gave nothing that looks like a snake.
