A device that would sense your moods and present situation, then add the appropriate "soundtrack music".

Ever notice how much more dramatic things seem in the movies? Its because of the SOUNDTRACK baby! Well, how about adding a soundtrack to your every day activities!Everything in your life would be enhanced! Like MSG for your life! You would know if something scary was coming up, if someone you meet was good or bad, if terrorists are about to blow up the building you work in....the list goes on and on.

I seem to recall seeing Moby's Play being tagged as the "soundtrack to your life" somewhere.

       Yeah, I can see that.

...at the moment it's Los Angeles.

Indeed, the soundtrack to L.A. city life is powered by a carousel 5-disc changer that rotates selections from Lenny Kravitz, Beck, Everything But The Girl, Massive Attack and Moby. Once any of these artists puts out with a new album, it gets played non-stop for a year and a half in every coffee house and eatery in L.A.

And that is why I don't listen to Radio here in L.A., save for Phil Hendrie show occasionally; don't go to coffee houses, have some at home, which I don't drink either. Regardless, a long ago I submitted fully baked ideas and deleted them upon notice that it was a done deal already.

       Phil Hendrie's show is AWESOME.

Regarding LA radio, KFAC, at one time the "pardon me, do you have any Grey Poupon" LA classical station, used to run a tagline "KFAC: The soundtrack to exceptional lives." Lah ti da.

Actually, L.A. [non-commercial] radio isn't all that bad.

KCRW-FM 89.9 has been my preference for the last 10+ years. It's where I get my news & music fix.

What would be better than being able to hear a soundtrack of your everyday life, as if your life was a movie?

How about having the band or bands right there with you (kind of like in the Bud Light commercial when the mariachi band follows the guy around)?

OK, it might be a bit difficult to get a cab that fits a 5-piece horn section, but imagine this scene:

You are on the phone at work, ending a conversation. For no reason, a funk song slowly fades in from nowhere.

(YOU, on the phone): OK... OK...

(JAMES BROWN, standing behind your desk): Hey fellas, should I hang up the phone?!!!

(HORN SECTION, to the right of JB): YEAH!!

       (YOU): OK... Uh huh...

(JB): Should I hang up the phone?!!!

       (HORNS): YEAH!!

(JB): Should I hang up the phone?!!!

(HORNS): YEAH!! HANG UP THE PHONE!

(JB): When I hang up the phone, let's hit it and quit!!!

       (HORNS): YEAH!!

(YOU): OK, I'll let you go. It was good talking to you.

(JB): Can we hit it and quit!!!

       (YOU): Right... OK.

(JB): Let's hit it and quit!!!

       (YOU): You too. Bye.

       (JB): HIT ME NOW!!!

Horns pop. You hang up the phone exactly as the last horn pop sounds.

How cool would that be? I would never get sick of that.

(lol)i know what you mean, sometimes, while walking briskly down the street, the theme from "the bob Newhart show" runs through my head (the opening credits show him on his way home after work). it's like my own theme, some times.

i've often mused about living in a movie
wess, Nov 15 2001

actually you are in a jigsaw picture
po, Nov 15 2001

Why would you want to live in a movie? It'd all be over in 2 hours. And don't think you'll get a sequel.
