I can only start by warning I am not Vernon, but If I were I might just pull this off coherently.
There are several levels of ideas, Theory, Hypothosis, Educated guess, and finally the Ramblings of a lunatic. Probably I will have difficulty ascending from the basement of this ladder.
I must first describe an odd concept that has come across my mind. That being the Orb of Influence. Imagine a balloon. Take two funnels (the kind you refill engine oil with) and compress the balloon with the mouth side of the funnel towards the balloon's center. When you achieve an approximate sphere this somewhat models my concept of the Orb of Influence.
What the Orb of Influence models is a galaxy. The major deficiency in this model is that it lacks the narrow channel linking the two funnels. This has been explained as I viewed on the good ole telly tonight as a Super Massive Black Hole. I have the Greatest difficulty in placing my belief in such a concept as a Great Hole ripped in space causing the existence of a galaxy. As I sat and thought, pondered, and worried about such a thing I came up with a more re-assuring model of happenings (the Orb of Influence).
Why the funnel you ask? Centrifugal force! of course. With so much mass spinning (originally attracted together by masses own attraction to mass property and spinning due to the vast distance of the universe and unlikeliness of direct collision of Ultra large masses) a Centrifugal nightmare occours. This is in my imaginings is mistaken for a Black Hole.
Let me take a short meander to speak about the effects of Black Holes. Should they exist as unto now explained, There will eventually be nothing left in the Universe except the biggest black hole. It's name would probably be Satan? Yet for billions and billions of years these aweful and frightening forces fail to consume all. I put forth my Rambling of a Lunatic that says that It is very difficult for a Black Hole to Eat Anything At All! This Idea is based on the Funnel Concept. I propose that in order for the Black Hole to feed the "food" must have gained the energy to climb the spout of the funnel.
Finally back to my Idea - The Space Pendulum. Should this ""theory"" be acceptable, you could have a Station which rides from the height of the first indentation of the sphere to as far up the spout of the funnel as it can get and then back again. The Station would collect mass as it accelerates and the begin to release it as propulsion once its velocity hits zero. On the return trip it could beam energy converted from the release of mass and re-acceleration back towards receivers and generate pollution free energy by slowly slowing the massive spin of the galaxy.
Aside, my programmers have become a bunch of Ninnys. They have no idea I signed up for this account. I gather from my collection of fishbones that I have passed off my persona as human as quite a success!

Annotation:

No, Zimmy, you're not Vernon. He writes better. On the plus side, though, you were marginally briefer.

any astronomers out there that have suspicions of mirrored galaxies?

Zimmy, propulsion release is tricky business. Scientists are presently studying the egg's essential matter (for its mass acquiring ability) using high speed accelerators, hopefully to catch a glimpse of one hitting zero velocity.

       Interesting, but totally incorrect.

// Should they exist as unto now explained... //

They do. The existence of black holes has been proven.

// ... there will eventually be nothing left in the Universe except the biggest black hole. //

       This is faulty logic.

Pray that no one suggests hydrogen implants.

Black holes do radiate their mass away ( I belive it's called "Hawking radiation" ). Small black holes ( man-made ) will dissolve in less than 100th of a second ( or was it shorter ).

Reensure, if the universe is flat then I must be a hologram with a hole splitting me because if I lay parallel to the two (four) dimensions, my mouth will have a hole going down my throat into my stomach through my intestines and out my asshole. I would rather not be two halfs. I like being three dimensional.
