Initially I thought that a lipstick style chip elevator would take up too much room in the base of the can. Having thought about it a bit more I realized it could be done quite compactly. I've illustrated the Springles as I've imagined it. |

A platform (green) has two cams (aqua) that travel on a helical coil (blue). The coil is connected to a wheel (purple) which is rotated by the user. As the coil is rotated the cams are guided upward by a channel defined by the guide pieces (brown) hence pushing up the platform and the springle chips (orange) to the top of the Springles can (red with image of Mr Springles (accidentally upside-down)). |

The handle on a hand grenade, used to hold it in the safe state after the pin us pulled but before it is thrown, is technically known as a "flail release", as it flicks out like a flail as the fuse ignites. |

Thanks for the complements xenzag and blissmiss. I spent most of the time trying to do an original Springles logo but that looked bad, so ended up just using the Pringles one. |

I think I can improve on my design. Firstly, a double helix rather than the single helix (I think this would work better). Secondly, a helical grooves rather than a helical rail (to increase strength). Thirdly, a mechanism that transfers the rotation of the wheel to the helix (helices) but not the can (at the moment, the illustration allows no relative movement between the can and wheel which obviously wouldn't work). Fourthly, I'll get the logo the right way up. I might get around to illustrating it tonight; if not, this description will have to suffice. |

I found the name a bit confusing (I assumed the chips were forced up by a spring). |

A more accurate name would be "Pringles with a twist" or similar. |

If the Pringles were in a plastic sleeve, and the
sleeve had a flexible rubber ring at it's open end,
you could just roll the ring down the can, which
would pull the sleeve bottom up, exposing more
chips. |

What's that stuff that expands like mad when you add water? Couldn't you put some of that in the bottom of the pringles tube? If your pringles are out of reach then, naturally, you will start to salivate madly (and probably slobber as well, just like my mate's boxer dog used to do), causing moisture to drip down through the can and trigger expansion at the bottom of the tube, thus raising more pringly deliciousness to within reach of your feverish grasp...although, granted, they might be a little soggy. |
