A derivative of the line of thinking for "frozen lathe display":

Strobe lighting could be used for alloy wheels. The wheel could be made to look perfectly stationary, or even go backwards.

The original alloy wheel would be on display, and not some bolt on weighted hub cap. It could also be used on motorbikes.

Unfortunately, I think it might break some law somewhere or other.

       Great. More things to distract teenaged drivers from the dangerous task of driving a car.   

       I once read that crossing a busy intersection without working traffic lights is about the same complexity as a VFR landing of a 747.
