Subtractive Diary

  [vote for,

Most diaries start off empty and you add stuff by putting it in.

This diary starts full, and you progressively sift out the stuff you can’t really get away with having in there. This might also involve having to modify or edit things here and there if necessary to adhere to reality, such as places, times.

Ah - not the new device for producing skimmed milk that I had expected.

If I let auto collect have its way, it would have been. What stupid cent thought that was a good idea?

It could be a passive-aggressive tool, for complete strangers to leave suggestive personal improvement duties to your calendar: Fartblocker!

Remember the rule [Max] - 'i' before 'a' except if it eats hay.
AusCan531, Oct 22 2015

       As in lair/liar and trail/trial.

//'i' before 'a' except if it eats hay.// True, although rules like that tend to be weird and carry little weight. It weighs on my conscience, as a scientist, that society heinously feigns adherence to fallacies such as "i before e except after c".
MaxwellBuchanan, Oct 22 2015

//weird... weight.. weighs.. conscience.. scientist.. society heinously feigns// I see what you did there. Well played.

The rule continues: 'or when sounded as 'A' as in neighbour' and 'weigh', for all the good it does. I can see how this conundrum would seize the mind of a feisty scientist.

Yes, it vexes me to my very core - right down to the proteins and nucleic acids of my being.
MaxwellBuchanan, Oct 22 2015

Ah, the ol' ribonucleic and deoxyribonucleic acids. I can see how you'd seize up at the cellular level, ultimately forfeiting the smooth ravelling and unravelling, ending up all knotted and in disarray. This willy-nilly rule-breaking is how (nuclear) accidents happen. Very vexing.
