Surrenders
A new fashion accessory to keep your shirt tucked in and your socks high!

A great source of irritation throughout the day, is in keeping ones clothing neat and tidy. This frustration goes beyond the occasional ink or coffee stain, but the general appearance of ones clothing in particular. You see, the most persistent problem is to keep a tucked shirt tucked, and high socks high.

The solution for falling pants, has long been solved. A belt, passed through a few loops, is all that is required except for drastic situations where suspenders must be called into play. However, shirt tails and the upward bunching of a well tucked shirt are nagging problems that even the tightest of belts fail to solve..

The Surrenders, so-called by taking the first sound from "shirt" and the last part of suspenders, and thrown together as if spoken by Sean Connery, are the solution to this popular and persistant problem. Simply attach one Surrender to each of your shirt tails, and the others to your socks. This serves the dual purpose of keeping socks high.

So kind of like a double sided garter belt? Sexy!!

I kept company with a woman for a brief period who felt that sock garters were very sexy, and suitable for wear in bed. She probably would have liked this.

I could have sworn we have done this before. It was a series of elastic bands connecting the socks, the shirt and the pants. I distinctly remember a bristolz illustration.
I cannot find it, alas, and fear it may have been lost in the crash.

Sorry, these things have been around for so long that most of us slobs have never heard of them. See link for one example. Look close in old movies and cartoons for more.

I've only seen them in real life once. When I was working as a waiter, wearing a tuxedo, one of the other guys had a set.

Well then, thats the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Widely known to exist?

rcarty, Jun 07 2006

No way, I have just asked about a third of my minions.... erm... colleagues, and none of them have heard of it.

<Connery accent> Now my sirt stays tucked in when I sit.

spidermother, Jun 07 2006

if Connery were saying it, wouldn't they be "shiraces"?
