Those Swiss think of everything, huh?

I stood, transfixed, as I watched the gigantic scissors extend slowly from the side of the tall, red building.

The scissor arms were set open, and the shadow they cast on the ground showed the time.

A bell rang and an enormous corkscrew levered out of the side of the building, disgorging people to the ground in what was obviously a fire drill. They simply slid down the corkscrew, as one would a giant slipperydip.

An enormous magnifying lens protruded from the other side of the building, concentrating solar energy on a single spot, and heating water for the building.

Like all of the other tourists standing about, gawking at the many features of this building, I wanted one.

The helicopter that stuttered noisily into the sky from the top of the building was the clincher, for me.

That could be UnaBubba (way back in his mullet days) taking a photo of this sculptural piece which might have provided the inspiration for this idea. [jurist, Sep 08 2005, last modified Sep 09 2005]

       And the toothpick...?
DrCurry, Sep 07 2005

       You don't want to know.
hidden truths, Sep 08 2005

Don't care bout the idea, as water from eyes has moistened my thought process; Welcome home. "You can never leave"

       His mind is bakery twisted...
blissmiss, Sep 08 2005

Had to record it, before it slipped out of my mind again.

The relevant snatch... of verse, [bliss]

       Her mind is 'bakery twisted
She's got the Blue Heron bends
She's got a lot of nutty, smutty boys
That she calls friends
UnaBubba, Sep 08 2005

//Space for bowing, stupid, aol icon, insert here. //

There are no words. But to jutta. Gracious.
blissmiss, Sep 08 2005

Is waugs now considered a smutty , nutty, part of my friends? eehhh. not gonna go over big.

It's ok, he did check out, and will probably never return:-(
blissmiss, Sep 08 2005

He's always with us, in spirit, [bliss]. I thought of him as the Genghis Khan / HL Mencken of the 'bakery.
UnaBubba, Sep 08 2005

       he'll be back!

I yanked him back by a leg once, I remember.
po, Sep 08 2005

Um, you on the same idea as the rest of us, po?

I always pictured waugsqueke as Oscar the Grouch (that was after I understood that his name was not actually Native American, of course).
DrCurry, Sep 08 2005

oh yes - flippin' silly and not up to a UB idea at all!

England to retain the Ashes - YES!

       <cross fingers>
po, Sep 08 2005

[po]'s right, definitely not up to your usual standard, [UB]. Take no more breaks, they clearly do you no favours ;)
moomintroll, Sep 08 2005

       :-)
DenholmRicshaw, Sep 08 2005

Could be the Bakery equivalent to the 'Hall of Justice,' where 'the Superfriends' used to hang.
RayfordSteele, Sep 08 2005

Not up to standard? I'm seeing this thing at forty stories, filled with 2500 diligent Swiss workers!
UnaBubba, Sep 09 2005

If that's UnaBubba, then I'm AfroAssault's great aunt.

What does the thing that gets Boy Scouts out of horses hooves do?
coprocephalous, Sep 09 2005

If you're referring to the photo in the link, [lurch], it would have been many years ago when UB was briefly shipwrecked in LA following his failed transglobal ballooning venture...But that's another story altogether, and the records are merely anecdotal, in any case.
jurist, Sep 09 2005

Naw, the putative [UB] in the photo would have been off hectoring someone over the lack of insignia on the boat, but he ain't the one I'm talking about.
lurch, Sep 09 2005

Well, you'd be correct to notice that the idea itself is uncharacteristically lacking in references to ninjas, Shakespeare, sonnets, legalisms, medical prognoses, cutting-edge cuisine, haute haberdashery, or swishbuckling ponces named Roland, but I'm convinced it's genuine Unabubbery, nonetheless.
jurist, Sep 09 2005

[jurist] you add so much. :-)
bristolz, Sep 09 2005

       I'll second that!
po, Sep 09 2005

You know you've arrived when you have your own noun.
RayfordSteele, Sep 09 2005

I understand that several Bakers have begun circulating a petition requesting that I stop "adding so much." But thanks for the kind words, nonetheless.
jurist, Sep 09 2005

I'd never spotted the Roland thing before today...

Oh my God! Aunt Lurch?! We thought you died in the train robbery!
AfroAssault, Sep 09 2005

Oops! I oughta be more careful of the ID's I steal, maybe.
