Though pirates are few and far between these days they are obviously still thrillseeking types. They have taken over a number of ships off Somalia recently, etc.
In keeping with their devil-may-care attitudes, I think we could have these dastardly corsairs redeem themselves through public service.
When
there's something dangerous and exiting to be tested, for public safety reasons, the job is first offered to pirates, then to the remaining inmates of Guantanamo Bay, I suppose.

Welcome back! Is it just a coincidence that you've been gone and pirates have been active? |
|
| |
It might be best to avoid having them test anti-piracy devices. "Arr, that be a mighty fine noise-maker! It will shiver the timbers out of any ship and shake the teeth out of any man's head. We all recommend it, don't we, me hearties?" |
|
| |
Ooh, awkward, if a one-handed pirate is also a Muslim, what happens when his left hand is a hook? |
|
| |
Can't wait for the resultant warning labels... |
|
| |
"Look both ways before proceeding. With yer good eye.
"This bag is not a toy. It makes fer a lousy body-bag, too."
"Keep out of reach of cabin-boys and mutineers." |
|
| |
//what happens when his left hand is a hook//
"Beware of Ahmed. He has a mean left hook." |
|
| |
//awkward, if a one-handed pirate is also a Muslim// Claude Balls? |
|
| |
Heh, haven't lost a beat while you were away. Your responses are as opaque / educational as ever. Googling for Claude Balls left me oogling at a great pile of disjointed nothings, googletrash I shall call it. Another hint at the punchline? |
|
| |
The trick [Rayford] is to say it out loud. |
|
| |
How's "Lass O'r Tedscrotum", for you, Ray? A well known female pirate of the Red Sea, from Eilat all the way down to Ophir. |
|
| |
Someone Googled "Claude Balls"? <absent mindedly scratches hair> |
|
| |
I figured it must've been one of those verbal jokes that doesn't work well in an Americanese accent and pronunciation. |

Which hai ...... no, on second thoughts, we don't want to know. |
|
| |
Could we get them to test dangerous computer code or would that be software piracy ? "Arrrrr, Jim-lad, pieces of 0000 1000 ...." |
|
| |
Goodness. Welcome back, UnaBubba. |
|
| |
At the risk of coming off anti-piratical, I don't see the difference between a pirate and any other criminal in this context. It seems that if the pirate is going to be motivated to volunteer for something dangerous s/he is already a prisoner. |
|
| |
Which is what I intended and ironically missed in the first instance. |
|
| |
Because putting a "Test Criminal" into an experimental aircraft just doesn't sound quite the same, [phoephoe]. |
|
| |
Har-dee-har-hard to operate a yoke and rudder with a hook and peg leg!
"Yar, here there be drag." |
|

sp: Test Pilates
When there's something dangerous and exiting to be tested...the job is first offered to a pilates class. |
|

That's a little pontious of you, [DrBob], isn't it? |
|
| |
You can get tablets for that now .... |
|
| |
sp: Teste Pirates
Jolly Roger indeed! |
|
| |
Arrr, it didn't pass the Bart Roberts test. Hard t' Port me hearties, I see a Higgs 'bosun at the CtERN. An' if it ain't, YOU will walk the Planck length. |
|
| |
Arrrr, Heisenberg off the starb'd bow ! |
|
| |
Heisenberg would be a real issue here if these pirates were assigned to test global warming - the more they became active in testing it, the less global warming we would have... |
|
| |
If we all look hard for Global Warming it will go away ? Cool ! |
|
| |
If we put Al Gore in a box with a vial of poison... |
|
| |
Yeah, turn your aircondtioners way down low then leave the door open when you go outside to look for it. |
|
| |
No, if _Pirates_ increase their activity - of any kind - global warming will go away. It will even work if you simply dress like a pirate yourself. Yarr. |
