Operated by franchisees, this service handles the touchy details of packaging and shipping cats to their destinations in an expedient manner.

Some require sedation, others just a chicken bits dispenser and a feathered toy. Other options are available.

Get the cheapest rate on shipping cats http://www.uship.com/ship/animals/
[ldischler, Feb 20 2007]

Annotation:

Highly baked. The word catapult, for instance, derives from the French word catapulte, then from Old French, and then from Latin catapulta, and from Greek katapalt s : kata-, cata- + pallein, which means to hurl cats over a wall, or to deliver cats for money.

Also baked in the virtual world. Why do you think CAT5 cable is called so?

By Catamaran.
Ordered from a Catalogue, of course (sorry, couldn't resist).

Excellent! I have a large shipment going from north eastern Spain to the capital of Nepal.

       <hackneyed news anchor quip> Now that's what I call a cat-astrophe <hnaq>

Texticle, Feb 13 2007

I think that, as long as they are either tinned or smoked, there are no special shipping requirements.

MaxwellBuchanan, Feb 13 2007

As a cat, I'm glad there's finally a service that can whiskers to our destinations speedily. It's a nice feline to be specially catered for at last. This is a supurr idea. [+]

There should be a claws banning puns.

MaxwellBuchanan, Feb 13 2007

As far as getting fuzzy pompous animals into every household in the world, this idea is simply catalytic!

daseva, Feb 13 2007

[GC], we do have a franchisee in Kathmandu. [jutta], thanks, I can't believe I didn't Google, but perhaps they're neither franchised or only specialising in cats.

I keep reading this as "the place that ships Scats"...

not a pleasant thought on your lunchbreak.

Custardguts, Feb 14 2007

Pardon the me-o-bonics, but.... Whey? The cat storklator!? Chitty biz! Down the tubes! Total wipeout! Super-enron! Crash and burn! ....Well, ok alright, dammit, I suppose it is a good idea even though I don't necessarily agree with it! [+]

"Well, I haven't exactly opened it, yet."

daseva, Feb 14 2007

At the risk of being serious, this is a good idea, for reputable franchises, I mean. I once tried to get two cats shipped from Washington, DC, to Missouri. It wound up being easier and cheaper to drive. The best part was when the two guys on the airport shipping dock assured me that I needed an "acclimatization certificate", which applies only to sled dogs.

baconbrain, Feb 14 2007

At the post office this morning, I was behind a guy who was shipping a chicken cross country. They gave him a special chicken box, and charged him $45 for priority.

ldischler, Feb 20 2007

Is it just me that gets a warm and fuzzy feeling knowing that somewhere in the world there is a postoffice that stocks specially made boxes for shipping chickens?

Galbinus_Caeli, Feb 20 2007

Yes, but as per the above idea, it may be a chicken bits dispenser for the accompanying cat/s. Packaging choices must always be carefully verified by part number and revision.
