Most parents experience many sleepless nights thanks to the late night cries and shrieks of a newborn baby. Well I may indeed have an idea that may prevent some disturbances.
The name almost speaks for itself, what I suggest is a robot that is attached to a babies cot. When the child cries at night
the Nannybot springs into action. The baby could be constantly monitored by the Nannybot on a number of different aspects. Such as body temperature, moisture levels in nappy and even heart beat. With sophisticated enough equipment it may even be possible to diagnose hunger by means of a highly sensitive microphone which is programmed to listen for stomach rumblings. The nannybot could then apply the appropriate procedure, such as administer a feed, remove/add blanket, rock the babies crib or even sing a pre-recorded lullaby. Im not sure if nappy changes could be mastered by the NannyBot, lets face it would you allow a pair of metal pincers near your tackle? I suppose in this instance the NannyBot would have to be programmed to alert the parents. General Mills Cheerios

Get an Au Pair. Cheaper and more effective. |
|
| |
Maybe so but an Au Pair is a baked idea proposing an Au Pair would'nt be in spirit of this website. Besides I garantee that all NannyBots will not have any peodophilic convictions. Don't you support technical development in order to better mankind, does your computer have a 386 processor? do you have a black and white T.V? Are you wearing a shell suit? Are you living in the past? |

Geez, Bubba, who pissed in your Cheerios this morning? How is an Au Pair, which you have to pay a salary to, cheaper than a robot which you can resell used when your kid grows up? |
|
| |
Honestly, how much is this *cheaper* robot? |
|
| |
[krelnik], have you seriously thought about how much it would cost to obtain a robot with this level of capability? |
|

Cheerios are little, red, hot dog sausages here. You eat a bowl of them for breakfast? Eeewwww! |
|

Australia is an odd country. Do you have Vegemite with your 'cheerios' too? |

Cheerios over here is a breakfast cereal in the shape of little O's. See link. |

And Corn Flakes are a foot medication. |

Fishie. Keep potentially lethal malfunctioning robot the hell away from my kid, thanks. |

UnaBubba, see link for another advantage to robots. |

Vegemite is misunderstood by so many foreigners. |

Like Fruit Loops, without excessive sugar? |

Robots and accidental death shall eventually come to be used in the same sentence regularly. There was a time when cars were not responsible for 500,000 deaths each year, before they became popular. |
