Roland settled back into the formfitting foam of the workcouch and placed his elbows on the armrests. They whirred, almost inaudibly, upwards until he had a comfortable downwards pressure on them.
Around the back of his thighs and buttocks, across his lower back and shoulders, he could feel the couch
fitting to his body.
The couch inclined backwards to about 70 degrees, so it was in a 'standing, whilst almost reclining' position. A tap on the right hand keypad brought a HUD-style display screen down, in front of his face. A keyboard folded down, coming easily to hand. His 'phone headset swivelled forwards, near to his ear and mouth, moving with him as he tilted and turned his head.
Another key sequence and the "Office" rolled forward, on its Segway base, towards the kitchen, for a coffee. Roland could work, wirelessly, wherever he chose to park his office for the day. The only restriction was that he had to dock it at the end of the day, to upload software changes and recharge the power unit.
Roland was ready for the day, very comfortable and best of all, taking up only one quarter of the space of a normal office-based employee. Employers were going to love the reduced rents they could achieve with this office design.
Now, what was that place again? www.halfbaked.com, or something, wasn't it? Easycare Genie

The Vertical Office sounds a lot like the Easycare Genie [linked below] or any other standing wheelchair, but fitted with a keyboard tray and phone jacks. |

Great. Another excuse not to get up and move around! |

Another solution would be to lower the floor height in buildings. |

Like the one in "Being John Malkovich"? Errm, no thanks. |
