After hearing about a number of things people have accidentally managed to flush down toilets (keys, cellphones, rings, etc...) it might be time to create toilets that can detect pieces of metals, pull them into a side channel, and then run them through a cleaning cycle. The side bin could then be checked
whenever something either fell in accidentally or on purpose (think small child here). The water might make cellphones unusable but if it didn't at least you could copy phone numbers out of it before throwing it away (assuming you didn't feel like using it as a phone anymore even if it did work). I think what [longshot] was referring to was small children putting things into toilets on purpose rather than small children falling in. I could be wrong. |
